The plain-language rules for using this website. They're not the same as the signed membership agreement and liability waiver you complete at orientation; where the two conflict, the signed documents govern.

1. Who we are
Spore Symposium is a community mycology lab based in Toronto, operated as an incorporated company registered in Ontario, Canada, on an at-cost, mission-first basis. We're not a registered charity: membership fees and contributions aren't tax-deductible donations. More on how we're structured is in our FAQ.
2. Using this website
By using this site (browsing, signing up for updates, or voting on a location), you agree to these terms. You agree to give accurate information in any form you submit, and not to try to circumvent the anti-spam measures we use, like the hidden honeypot fields on our forms. Course details, pricing, and location options shown here are our current, good-faith plans (a starting proposal, not a locked-in offer) and may change before anything becomes binding.
3. Membership, courses, and the lab
Nothing on this website is a membership agreement. Joining the lab, enrolling in a course, or gaining physical access requires a separate signed membership agreement and liability waiver, completed at orientation: see our FAQ for what that covers. If anything on this site conflicts with those signed documents, the signed documents win. Supplies sold at cost to members are governed by our Supply Policy.
4. The location vote
The neighbourhood vote on our Location page is a way to gather community input, not a binding commitment. We may choose a location other than the leading vote, and we'll always let voters know when a decision is made.
5. Intellectual property
The text, design, and illustrations on this site belong to Spore Symposium unless otherwise noted. You're welcome to link to us or quote us with attribution; please don't reproduce the site's content wholesale without asking first.
6. No warranty
We keep this site as accurate and up to date as we can, but it's provided "as is." Pricing, course availability, and other details may change, and we don't guarantee the site will be error-free or uninterrupted.
7. Limitation of liability
To the extent Ontario law allows, Spore Symposium isn't liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of this website. This section doesn't affect the separate liability waiver you sign for physical lab use, which is governed by its own terms.
8. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario, Canada.
9. Changes to these terms
We may update this page as the project develops; we'll update the "last updated" date above when we do. Material changes to actual membership terms always go through the signed agreement, not a silent edit here.
