A private lab, years in the making.
Spore Symposium didn't start as a business plan. Our founders have been running a private mycology lab for years: refining sterile technique, testing equipment, and growing cultures long before there was any community built around it.
More people wanted in.
Over the last few years, interest in growing mushrooms at home has taken off. Our founders started engaging with the public directly, teaching at community events and in people's own homes. That's how they found out how overwhelming the space and supplies could be for someone trying to do this on their own, and how many people had questions, wanting to learn, wanting to try it themselves. Our founders started teaching, one grower at a time, and realized that the community was yearning for more.
So we're opening the doors.
A community lab is how we turn one-on-one teaching into something that scales: shared equipment, supplies at cost, and a space built around exactly the kind of curiosity that kept showing up. The courses, the membership tiers, this whole site: all of it exists because teaching people one at a time wasn't enough anymore.
